Welcome to Mission Beach

A beachside town set in ancient rainforests, known as Djiru Country, 150km south of Cairns in far north Queensland.
The Mission Beach Historical Society was formed in 2020 to collect, record, preserve and promote local history.

Acknowledgement Of Country

The Mission Beach Historical Society acknowledges the Djiru Traditional Owners
and their continuing connection to land, waters and community in and near Mission Beach. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and emerging.

Successful Grant Application

The MBHS applied for a CHART (Culture, Heritage and Arts Regional Tourism program) Grant from the Australian Museums and Galleries Association and were advised on 22 February 2022 that our application was successful. We wish to thank the Australian Government Culture, Heritage and Arts Regional Tourism Program for providing us with funds to further our aim to preserve the heritage in the Mission Beach area.
